Tao Girls- Teaching Balance, Confidence and Boldness to Teenaged Girls

Tao Girls- Teaching Balance, Confidence and Boldness to Teenaged Girls

Much has been said about the difficulty of being a teenaged girl in our culture. There are intense pressures mounted from a multitude of sources: school, friends, boyfriends, and the media, just to name a few. And all of these pressures can take a toll on a girl’s confidence.

This is where the Tao Girls come in. Begun by CJ Golden, Tao Girls is an organization aimed at helping girls between the ages of 11 and 17 find confidence and balance in the midst of their daily lives. Based on the ancient Chinese philosophy of Tao (pronounced “dow”), Tao Girls teaches young women that being tenacious, accepting (of themselves), optimistic, grateful, imaginative, radiant, and loving (the first letters of these qualities spell Tao Girl) makes it easier to live life with confidence and boldness when faced with challenges.

Their website and book have motivational stories about successful young women that girls today look up to, as well as real-life examples of how to use its ideas, useful definitions and quizzes, and a lot of inspiration to remind young women who they really are and what they are capable of. Her methods are so successful that CJ Golden now works closely with the Girl Scouts and Girls, Inc. to help spread Tao Girls’ confidence-building to more young women.

If you have a daughter in those critical ages who could use a reminder of all that she is and is capable of, have her check out the Tao Girls website or Tao Girls Rule! (the book), or contact CJ Golden about speaking engagements in your area. (Or if you want to find a way to speak to your daughter in ways that she may be more receptive to, check out these resources yourself.) Our girls are worth it, and chances are that after a certain age, they need to be reminded of the power they have within.
